Travel Splendor - Going on a trip with the family tomorrow. On the left is the box for splendor, which is not so great for making it on to a plane. On the right is my custom tuck box for “Travel Splendor.” My daughter enjoys it and we can use it to pass some time.

St. Belgemine is pretty much done. I need to make a porch for the rectory, and fine detailing of course. But for now, I’m ready to move on.

handyprojects:

NYC has these fire/police call boxes all over the city. Most of them are neglected sloppily painted messes with lots of rust and often missing pieces. I was inspired to clean the one at the top of our block by someone who had done the same in Woodside. A little scraping and cleaning then red spray paint and gold with a chip brush. There is this great graffiti spray paint which covers those annoying alcohol based paint markers. Before you’d barely notice it.

askanidog: Thought I would share some of my madness with you...

askanidog:

Thought I would share some of my madness with you guys, today I started working on a beach landing board, done in sections for storage and also for easier transport to and from one of the local clubs here in Goulburn.

Rounding figures up I have spent $90 on the Mdf, some bracing and the insulation foam. PVA glue and some textured paint I already have from other projects.

The only other thing I will be purchasing is some caulk to create waves, and some flock both of these will cost an extra $20 at a guess (cheap ebay sellers FTW).

Tomorrow I will build up the internals of the trenches with half width paddle pop sticks that I have left over from my USMC display board. Also fill in some gaps between wood and foam with some gap filler.

Then everything will get texture paint, except the ocean sections. They will get some caulking done later in the week.

Workbench Wednesday!

The roof is finished on the Old Crow. Next up windows, then paint.
